Hi All - I have a 2009 V8 4.5 ltr Diesel Landcruiser . Has done just over 200kms - When I start it cold it starts and idles/revs ok no noises , but when I drive off ,as revs get up over 2000 rpm the engine makes a clattering sound . It has gotten progressively louder over time . Once it is up to temp it sounds ok and will run all day with no issues. It only does this when cold. Have done regular oil changes with good quality oil . Doesnt get a hard life .Anyone else had similar issues or can offer advice please? Cheers
TO ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED - THIS CLATTERING IS COMMON AND INDICATIVE OF WORN INJECTORS .TRUCK HAS TRAVELLED 202000KMS ON ORIGINALS SO APPEARS THAT IT NEEDS NEW ONES.

Re: VDJ79 V8 4.5 LTR CLATTER WHEN COLD
FYI - After a full new set of injectors and a new vacuum pump the rattle was way less for about 2 weeks then it came back worse. Diesel experts said they would need to strip whole engine to fix it. I found that this noise is common on these landcruiser v8s and most people get a complete new engine because it sounds terminal. $10k spent for no gain problem worse . A complete new engine would cost $28k so this would have been the way to go in retrospect.
