Cooked oil

hi there i have a 1991 das feroze 4x4 got on the sofl sand did about 5k enige oil light was on but ckecked oil before hand which was full not to where we were giong could smell some thing bruning checked the dipstick which was saying it had no oil in the einge and smoke was coming out of the dipstick but when cold anything was all ok
want might this be do i need a oil cooler
do i need to change the oil can any one help thanks
also do elec fan work for the radeeater

I check my oil after it been running for a bit. ... ... That way the oil in the galleries haven't drained back.
If you feel you have cooked the oil, change it. Its pretty cheap compared to an engine rebuild.
